A Wedding Sonnet
I know your wedding was a few weeks ago,
And it was a private affair,
So to you now this gift I bestow
Since I didn't have to figure out what I would wear;
Unfortunately, this gift was not by me wrapped with care--
Moms do a much better job, I know--
Because my mind with much homework to bear,
Has become, recently, quite a bit slow;
See, when I got home, my mind said, "Whoa!
Are there any lights on in there?"
The realization hit me with a tremendous blow,
And I sat thinking with a blank stare.
So I wrote you this poem, even though I'm no bard,
All because I forgot to get you a card!
