Fall of the House of Us, Her
The fortress has cracked
Where walls once stood
Where soldiers once fought
Where fear has tread
The weight of the Dragon
Is crushing the stone
The mortar to dust
I knew it before--
The premonition
But when am I ever right?
Emotion leaks as tears from splinters
The crack of boards
The whip of agony
"Why have you no confidence?"
I feel and should not
I doubt and 'tis true
Temblors weaken
The remnant foundation
The moat is dry
The bridge is broken
Chains are all that remain
The dust is blinding
All is sound
Hadn't I heard it before?
The screams
The shouting
The cries of one amidst the crumbling hulk:
The gift
Rays of light through the fog of war
&
The curse
The collapse, the fall, the embers and ash
The ghostly battle endures
But won will not
