Shores of Eventide
Courtesy has gone to hide,
Here no longer does it abide,
Absent from the fireside,
Taken by the downward slide,
'Cept for the shores of Eventide.
Kind- and gentleness have tried;
Yet, this reality has vied,
And now the gap betwixt grows wide
For most do choose the other side;
But not the shores of Eventide.
Live long the shores of Eventide
Where all the 'kin can safely glide;
Here on the shores of Eventide
Our souls, our spirits, ourselves alive.
Those in whom we don't confide
Scoff and laugh and say we lied;
Our humanity can't hide--
Shows ourselves, as one, belied;
Not so, the shores of Eventide.
But with others here to guide
Us along this bumpy ride,
We can be still gratified
Upon the shores of Eventide.
Will we always here abide?
This place only can we hide;
But for the world, we do strive
While on the shores of Eventide,
Where all the 'kin can safely glide--
Our souls, our spirits, ourselves alive.
