AAS Meeting, San Diego - Jan. 2005

The Beach

Waiting for the bus that will take us to the infamous "beach."  Truly, we had no clue where we were going; we just wanted to go to the beach.  Any beach.  Left to right:  Chris, Monica, Deb, Cece, Megan, Linda, and the rarely-photographed Tyrel.

As per the bus driver's suggestion, we ended up at a Dairy Queen in Pacific Beach (gotta have our ice cream). I think the palm tree with the Christmas present is absolutely hilarious.

And finally, we reached the beach!  It was barely 60 degrees--the water and sand were very cold.  But it was fun nonetheless.  This was the view to the right, obviously, with a long pier stretching out into the water.

The left view.  Looks kind of hazy.  I love to watch the people wandering up and down the beach.  Reminds me of those vacation commercials.

And finally the forward view.  The sunset was not only beautiful, but it lasted for a very long time, too.  Felt like we were on the edge of the world.

Trying to get the sand off of our feet so we could put our shoes and socks back on.  This failed, for the most part. The blurriness is from my messing with the "night" setting on the camera.  Looks good, even with the blurring, methinks.
