All of these pictures are from the fantastic night of July 19, 2008. I got more lighting pictures that night than I have during entire monsoon seasons.

I know it sounds silly, but these pictures are dedicated to the security guy who visited briefly with me while I was taking half of these pictures. He pointed me in a direction where I got the best lightning of the night. Thank you!

The night began on a parking garage with a good view to the northwest. I thought the storm was too far off to get good pictures, and though the lightning was far away, it doesn't look too bad (especially after cropping the photos to focus on the bolts).

I noticed a storm brewing to the southeast after a while, producing a lot of lightning. So I moved to another garage with a better view in that direction. Unfortunately, it only had a good view to the south and southwest. Plus, the heavy rain in that particular storm shielded most of the bolts from view. I did manage this one, though.

While talking with a security guy, who came up to see what I was doing, he noticed a lot of bolts occurring to the southwest (I was still looking southeast). I turned my camera in that direction (toward downtown) and BOOM. Thank you, whoever you were. :-]
