Geneva Hatching
March 2, 2009

I had been waiting since the first days of January for this little bundle of joy to hatch. Finally, at midnight on March 2, I checked my fat-tail gecko egg for the zillionth time...and noticed a little something different: My baby was hatching!

My moving her to a brighter area where I could take clear pictures scared her, so it took her a little while to calm down enough to continue hatching.

For reference, the egg is a teeny bit over an inch long (~2.6 cm).

She rested in this position for several minutes. Hatching is hard work!

12:27 am: Obligatory cute picture.

12:29 am: I added a quarter in for scale. It's difficult to realize just how tiny she is without seeing her for yourself, but the quarter should help a bit.
